CSEC (Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children) is the use of any person under the age of 18 for sexual purposes in exchange for money, goods, or services or the promise of money, goods, or services. Trafficked children cannot be prosecuted for prostitution.
Federal law provides that “[w]hoever knowingly transports any individual interstate or foreign commerce, or in any Territory or Possession of the United States, with the intent that such individual engages in prostitution, or any sexual activity for which any person can be charged with a criminal offense, or attempted to do so, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 10 years, or both.” 18 U.D.S.C.A. subsection 2421.
